The Liberal Dilemma

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Journalism in 1970, Marquis W. Childs was a reporter who relied more on an “interpretive style” of reporting than adhering to the plain facts, a practice that fell in line the Philosophy's ideals of promoting free speech in the face of unpopular opinion. Often lauded for his work by the political left, Childs was often a regular on the “Washington Calling”, an opinion column which appeared in many newspapers of the time to lend a progressive voice. In the May of 1965 issues of Playboy Magazine, Childs lays out his belief that the youth movements based on college campuses across the nation stand at a crossroads and offers an all-encompassing look at their struggles, its achievements, and what awaits them in the coming years.
